Frequently Asked Questions

I'm ready to make reservations...but what about?

What does a full hook-up site include?
A full hook-up site includes water, electric, and sewer. (Cable is not included with a full hook-up site but may be available upon request)

Are the cabins pet friendly?
Each type of cabin has some pet friendly cabins with the inclusion of Paw'Fect Package. At the time that you make the reservation, you will need to say that you would like the Paw'Fect Package and specify the type of pet you are bring as each package is customized to your pet.

How many tents can we put on one site?
On tent sites, we allow one large tent or two single-room tents. On RV sites, we allow only a small pup tent for children. A pup tent is a one person tent.

How many cars can we put on one site?
One vehicle and one camping unit is allowed per site. In some cases, a site may have additional parking available for an extra charge. All vehicles must be registered at the office.

How many people are allowed per site?
The state department allows up to 6 people per RV/Tent site. Our yurts, tiny homes, and cabins have a unique maximum based on their sleeping capacity please check the description for the accommodation you are planning to book.

I have a group, is there a group discount?
For parties with at least 10 sites, there is a group discount ranging from 5% to 15%.

What type of RVs can stay at your campground?
All RVs must be RVIA certified. RV Condition must be well maintained, but it is at our discretion as to if the RV does not meet acceptable standards to stay in the park.

Do you have a curfew or quiet hours?
Quiet hours are from 11pm to 8am. All children must be on-site during these hours or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Playgrounds are closed at dusk. Bikes are not allowed to be used after dark. We do not have a fire curfew, however, we do require the all campfires are under the watch of an adult. If there are any noise complaints, fires will need to be out out at the request of security.

Do you rent sites by the month?
Yes! We have a limited number of monthly sites available. For more information,  email us at DeerparkKOA@aCampfire.com

Do you have on site laundry facilities?
Yes, we have washers and dryers available 24/7.

Is there a dump station?
Yes. The dump station is free to registered guests. There is an usage fee for those not camping with us. 

Do you have grills?
Each site comes with a fire ring. A grill top can be purchased from the store. 

What is the topography of your campsites?
We have some RV sites on gravel and some on grass. If you have a preference, please mention at the time your reservation is made.

How far are you from the Highway?
We are 9 miles from I-84 (Exit 1), 10 miles from route 17 (Exit 113), 7 miles from US-6, and less than 1 mile from US-209.

Are you open year round?
No, we are open from April 1st to October 31st.

Can we book a specific site?
Sites are assigned the day of arrival, however if there is a specific site you would like, we can usually accommodate with the selection of SelectSite which is $20.

How big is your park?
Our campground is very spacious with about 80 acres of camping space.

Do you rent the banquet room to people not staying on site?
Yes, we do have a banquet room that is available for events located right on the Neversink River. There is a fee associated with renting the room. Please contact us in advance to reserve the room.

Do you serve food or have a restaurant?
Yes, we have a snack bar at our activities center called the Discovery Bistro. They serve ice cream, chicken nuggets, pizza, and more. -Currently available for delivery only.

Do you have an arcade?
Yes, the arcade is located in the activities building. -Closed until 2021

When does your pool open? Is it heated?
The pool is open from Memorial Day until Labor Day. The hours of operation are posted on the pool deck. The pool is not heated and is 3 feet to 5 feet deep. -Reopening in the 2021 season

Can you swim in the river/ponds?
Yes, we love swimming in the river. Locals call the local swim hole "the beach" and it's located right here!

Can you fish in the river/pond? Do you need a license?
Yes, you can fish in the Neversink River with a NY fishing license. A license can easily be purchased at the local convenience store about one mile away or at any sporting goods store in New York.

Can we put kayaks in the river?
Yes, although the river can be shallow it can be fast paced at times. We recommend using kayaks in our brook. We also offer kayak rentals -Returning in the 2021 Season.

Are there hiking trails on property?
There are many places to walk and bike on property. Trails along the river and mountain can be found within a quarter mile of the campground at a nature conservancy.

Can we hunt on the campground?
No hunting is allowed on the campground.

Do you have a community area for big groups?
Yes, we have both indoor and outdoor areas that are perfect for large groups. We have a banquet hall that can be reserved for a fee or used on a first-come, first-serve basis. We also have a large campfire area that is great for group fires that can be used on a first-come first-serve basis.

Are Chinese Lanterns allowed?
No, Chinese Lanterns are a fire hazard and considered illegal in this area. #OnlyYouCanPreventForestFires

Are fireworks allowed on the campground?
Fireworks are not permitted on the campground at any time. Handheld sparklers are allowed as regards to state laws. New York Law currently prohibits fireworks and allows only wood handled sparklers. Reminder #OnlyYouCanPreventForestFires #SaveThePlanet

Do you allow RC vehicles and boats?
Yes! Please do not disturb fellow campers. RC Aircrafts are not permitted. 

Do you allow drones on property?
Drones are not allowed due to privacy concerns.

I have reservations, now what?

When is check in Time? Can I check in early?
Check in time is 3pm. Early check-in is sometimes available with fee. The earliest possible arrival would be 1pm and we will not know if it is available for early check in until 12pm (noon) on check-in day. 

What time is check out? Can I check out late?
Check out time is 12pm for RV/Tent sites and 11am for Cabins. Late check out is sometimes available for RV and Tent Sites. Please ask the front desk on the day of checkout at least 20 minutes prior to check out time and fee does apply for all late check outs. There is no late checkouts for cabins. 

I am camping with friends, can we get sites together?
We try our best to get friends in close proximity to each other. When you make your reservations, ALL parties must state who they are camping with to be placed in as close a site as possible.

Can my friend check-in for me?
The person checking in must provide a government issued ID and match the name and address on the reservation. If there are multiple sites reserved under the same name for a group, that person must check-in for all of the sites and assume all responsibilities of the reserved sites.

What if we arrive after the registration office is closed?
If you are coming after hours, please inform the front desk before closing time, we will make sure there is a map and directions to your site posted at the night registration kiosk. If you do not have a reservation, there is a list of available sites at the night registration kiosk. If you need additional assistance at arrival, please call our customer service line.

Can I change the dates of my reservation?
Yes, reservation dates can be changes at with no additional cost, if it is within the cancellation period. If you are out of the cancellation period, you will lose the deposit.

I have friends coming to visit, what is your visitor policy?
Visitors must stop by the office to check in and pay day use fee. Visitors can arrive as early as 8am and must leave by 10pm.

For visitors fee, Do you charge per car or per person?
Visitor fee applies per person. Must check in at the office, off-site parking will be assigned.

How many cars can we put on one site?
One vehicle and one camping unit is allowed per site. In some cases, a site may have additional parking available for an extra charge. There is a free parking area available for additional vehicles. All vehicles must be registered at the office.

Quiet hours are from 11pm to 8am. All children must be on-site during these hours or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Playgrounds are closed at dusk. Can I bring my own firewood?
No is the short answer. State law and local ordinances prohibit the transportation of firewood in most locations. Our park allows wood to be brought in ONLY IF it is certified kiln-dried firewood, which must be inspected by us upon arrival. Uncertified wood must not touch the ground and be put into a dumpster or in a wood disposal location prior to entry. Firewood is available for purchase in the campground. #SaveThePlanet #SaveOurTrees

Can we bring our Golf Cart/ATV and use it in the park?
All slow and medium speed vehicles are required to remain on roadways. Please no off-roading on the campground. All vehicles require insurance and licensed drivers. Proof of insurance and Driver's License must be presented to Security and/or staff upon request. Speed limit is 5mph throughout the park. ATVs can only enter and exit the park and are not allowed to be used throughout the campground. 

Can I bring a boat or auxiliary trailer?
Yes, you can bring an auxiliary trailer. If it fits on your site it must stay attached to your RV. Additional RV/trailer storage maybe available.

How far are you from the Highway?

I need to cancel my reservation, what do I do?
Please give us a call at 845-754-8388 and one of our customer services agents will be happy to assist you in cancelling your reservation. 

Do we get a refund if the weather is bad?
Camping is an outdoor activity unfortunately we cannot guarantee great weather. No refunds are given due to weather. If you call within the cancellation deadline, your stay can be postponed or canceled, at no additional charge.

I'm a NYC local looking to escape city life for vacation

What is the best way to get to you?
Depending on where you are located in the city, you will need to get to either the NY Penn Station or the NJ Transit Station in Hoboken NJ.

If you are coming from NY Penn Station, you will get on the NJ transit Train going to Secaucus Junction Station. Once you arrive at Secaucus Junction, you will get on the Port Jervis Bound Train and you will get off at the Otisville Station.

If you are coming from Hoboken, you will get on the Port Jervis Bound NJ transit train. You will get off at the Otisville Station. 

We offer a shuttle to Otisville train station that goes to and from the train station starting at 7am and ending at 11pm at your request. It does have a fee. Please email us with your expected arrival  minimum of 24 hours before. 

How long does it take to get to/from the city?
It takes between an hour and a half to two hours to get to New York City by Train. It typically takes about two hours to drive to NYC depending on traffic. 

What is the train schedule?
The train schedule varies by day of the week and holiday periods. To get the most up-to-date schedule go to NJtransit.com. For details on subways and connecting information, go to MTA.info and click on the trip planner. It takes about 10-15 minutes to get to/from the campground to the train. Shuttles are available when scheduled in advance. We ask for a 24 hour advanced notice.

How much is the shuttle?
The shuttle is $10 one way and includes up to two people. $5.00 for each additional person. Shuttle times are from 7am to 11pm, after hour shuttles are possible for an additional $10.
